Havelet Bay

South Esplanade, St Peter Port, GY1


Havelet Bay is directly south of St. Peter Port's main harbour and is therefore easily accessible from the town centre.

Swimming, sailing, diving and fishing often take place from the beach, with Castle Cornet sitting at the bay's northern shore.

Victor Hugo would frequently swim in Havelet Bay. In Toilers of the Sea he describes how during springtime the bay was “alive with flowers, nests, fragrances, birds, butterflies and bees.” 

and

"Nothing could be more peaceful than this spot in calm weather, nothing more tumultuous in heavy seas.”
