Portelet Beach

Portelet Bay, Torteval, GY8

See directions

Portelet bay is a small working fishing harbour where you can relax and watch the fishing boats or enjoy the sea and sand on this west-facing, safe and sheltered beach.

Portelet is great for rockpooling! You can go at any time of the year, but the best time is late spring to early autumn as these tend to be the warmest months. Guernsey’s sea is warmest in September and coldest around March. The best place to look for rock pool creatures are pools closest to the sea edge. Take your buckets or tupperware boxes with you, check the tide times and don’t forget to check under rocks!
